Brenke Fish Ladder - Lansing

Here are some more photos from my trip to the Grand River in Old Town Lansing. These photos are from the Brenke Fish Ladder. The first photo is the sign that explains the fish ladder. There were no fish climbing the ladder yesterday. I hope to go back when the salmon and trout are making their way upstream.

Icicles - Lansing

This afternoon, I walked around by the Grand River at Old Town in Lansing. It was fun to see the different types of icicles caused by the spray from the river.

Poinsettias - East Lansing

There was a winter gardening symposium today at Michigan State University. We had lunch in the conservatory. It snowed this morning on the way to the symposium, but during lunch, the sun was shining, and the conservatory was bright and warm. Someone said it was like having a spring picnic! Add to that the fact we were surrounded by these beautiful poinsettias. I never knew there were this many different types.

Winter Trees - Williamston

I have a fascination with trees. They are beautiful with leaves, but without leaves, they can be a work of art. Some of my ancestors came from Ireland. Maybe I have Druid DNA.

An icy Loch Ness tree creature.

Enlightened tree fingers.

State Capitol - Lansing

I was at the Michigan State Capitol this morning for Go Red at the Capitol to raise awareness about women and heart disease. While I was there, I took the opportunity to take a few photos. Our Capitol is truly beautiful.

A Walk in the Snow - Williamston

We had some snow late last week. It made for a beautiful weekend. Here are some photos from my walk.

Frozen log in the Red Cedar River.

Snow covered rock in the Red Cedar.

It has not been cold enough to freeze the river, but there is some ice.

Paths converge (or diverge, depending on your point of view).

Miscellaneous - Williamston

It is January 6, and the temperature was 50 degrees today. The weather is really weird for this time of year. Weird or not, I decided to take my beagle for a walk, and enjoy the non-freezing temps. While we were out, I took a few miscellaneous photos. Enjoy.

The rapids on the Red Cedar River.

The railroad tracks through town.

Since I walked on both sides of the tracks, I must have been on the wrong side of the tracks at some point.

Partially frozen pond with the sun setting in the background. It was nice to see the sun today.

P.S. this is my beagle, Piper.

Hidden Panda - Lansing

This is from the building where I work. I had never noticed the panda until some anonymous person left the sign.

Do you see the panda?

Of course, if they ever mop the floor, the panda will go away. :-)

Happy New Year!
